After I read the DARK TOWER VII manuscript and decided to illustrate this scene at the Dixie Pig, I emailed Stephen King to tell him that I was taking artistic license. 2/3

The author not only gave his OK but also changed the scene to fit the illustration with Callahan standing on the table. 3/3

@MichaelWhelan to be fair, if you did an illustration for a book of mine and took a few liberties, I'd change the scene, too 😂

@bruienne I’m not sure either, but there’s overlap with other Stephen King stories in the Dark Tower, so maybe? Plus, just wondering if it’s a little easter egg put in there by @MichaelWhelan 😁
