It suddenly dawned on me what LinkedIn reminds me of! It's the old MCV magazine that you'd find lying around in gamedev offices that nobody other than the CEO would read.
@Donzanoid that’s not entirely fair. MCV occasionally had useful information from people familiar with their industry, and wasn’t solely a toxic fog of thought-farts from uninformed grifters.

@bbbscarter my only memories are from the days when I thought anybody above the production floor was an uninformed grifter so I am definitely being more harsh than you 😂

One of my favourite experiences was working on the swear jar game where the marketting team were on the production floor with us. Turned out they know a lot about games and love them just like us!

@Donzanoid oh, I just meant that MCV was bad, but not LinkedIn bad.

LinkedIn *is* a toxic fog of thought-farts from uninformed grifters.

@Donzanoid I get MCV now because I signed up for Develop Magazine 20+ years ago (in person at Develop I think) but it ended up getting merged into MCV in the last few years and my registration details are so old I can't seem to unsub using any of the online systems available
@Donzanoid nah you can't do MCV dirty like that. LinkedIn is définitif proof that humanity should be wiped out of existence by an interstellar body or a plague.
