The rewrite fixed a lot of issues, but I hear you on some big remaining trouble areas.

Now that the iOS 26 update is done, I'm focusing significantly on quality improvements.

First up: today's beta brings massive improvements to downloads, streaming, and Apple Watch background updates.

@overcastfm not a bug per se but have you considered making a proper Liquid Glass app icon for Overcast?
@billrey @overcastfm The icon is already liquid glass tho? (even on iOS 18, where it’s super out of place)

@avakining @overcastfm not really. It doesn’t use Icon Composer style layered glass planes. Instead it’s just a graphic with outlines.

Here’s an image that shows what I mean: before-after

@billrey @avakining It indeed does use Icon Composer, and every layer is rendered with the glass effect — it's just subtle.

I chose not to make the glass icon look radically different, since it has looked approximately like this for a decade and people really like it.

@overcastfm @avakining fair enough - but currently it doesn’t follow Apple’s app icon recommendations.

Right now the current icon looks out of place in both iOS 18 and also on iOS 26

Btw I’m happy to help with the icon for free :)

@avakining @overcastfm I know this is super obnoxious to say but the current thick-outline-style icon looks so out of place on iOS 26 that I feel like removing it from my Home Screen :)
