The majority of the tech industry has no valid vision how to contribute to a liveable future for humanity on this planet. Their dystopian fantasies don’t match with human needs. That’s why we will keep sliding from one bubble to the next. Everything has to be artificially inflated to hide the massive abyss of meaninglessness behind it all.

@bastianallgeier

They are addicted to the money they think they see inside the AI bubble.

@bastianallgeier I sat in the park today just listening to 7 guys playing 1920s music together. The leaves were red and yellow and the air was crisp. Away from it all is the way that humans can and could be.
@bastianallgeier
Damn now there’s a phrase to be coined
“The massive abyss of meaninglessness“
🤔 😉 😜

I've been advocating for what i call Operation Engage - plotting humanity's path to a Star Trek future

I believe we need a lot of smart people thinking about what it will take to create a liveable future on this planet

Climate change, sure. But economic models, political & religious issues. tech, education, human rights, int'l cooperation

who's looking from a human perspective rather than for profit? What would it take, & what are we up against?

'Doughnut Economics' by Sophie Raworth.
@bastianallgeier
@bastianallgeier correlated — the main feature of the economy in the late 19th and early 20th century was a boom-and-bust cycle with bubbles growing and popping, culminating in the roaring 20s and the Depression. Regulations were put into place to prevent these cycles — banning things like stock buybacks — until the 80s and 90s. Once they were repealed, our boom-and-bust cycles resumed. It’s entirely predictable.

@bastianallgeier

Im finding it very... um... how do I say it without sounding like an ass...quirky?

...that we are expressing our spicy opinions about how meaningless and useless tech industry is...

... on a platform that would not have been spawned into existance without, as you put it so picturesquely 'sliding from one bubble to the next'.

I am in agreement about the 'massive abyss of meaningless'...
... time to smash the computers and go back to the fields and weaving.

@bastianallgeier

'Doughnut Economics' should be the goal.

Self interested power hungry narcissists are the reason why not!

@bastianallgeier I came to the conclusion, that you can't solve local Problems with global ecting monoloths of companies. IT should be as regional as your Local electrician, maxbe a bit more, but not whatever we do as a society rn.
