Pretty happy about the new symbolic workflow. While Matthias is still busy exploring the animation capabilities and some conventions need to be set for the advanced states, perhaps the parametric future isn't that far.

GNOME

Preview of the parametric symbolics in GNOME

@jimmac this is all really cool! (I've been following it in the Matrix too 😄) and it makes me wonder: what use-cases are these planned for? Like, where do you expect to use variable width icons and animations in the UI?
@jimmac plus I like the naming on this one 😭
@mr_breakfast Adjusting the visual weight for when we render the icons at larger size. Such as the initial state of apps. They are just brutally heavy now (and they could be larger).
@mr_breakfast In addition hover states could gain some weight, toggle states could be filled when "on", etc (this doesn't currently work).
@jimmac Is the current general weight going to stay the same, or is it planned that gnome is going to get thinner symbolics? (And those uses sound real nice!)
@mr_breakfast In the short term you probably won't notice. 16x16 and 2px strokes will remain as we gradually phase these in.
@jimmac well, I'm really excited for it!
@mr_breakfast It might take a while before it does anything exciting :)
