Random rat-in-engine tip: a combination of ultrasonic repeller and propping up the hood every night is working very well for preventing rat/mice/woodrat nesting in the engine. A little bit of a PITA propping the hood up (and putting it down every day), but better than destroying your engine wiring. Rats have given up going into the engine bay, not enough protection from the owls.

Oh good tip.

We have had this problem. Initially, it was because we had two cars and only used one regularly. The unused one kept getting mice in it, so we got rid of the car.

We now have one car and two e-bikes, but the car is not being used often enough.

Guess what. Mice again.

We don't have owls, but we could leave the cat in the garage more often-she does love sleeping on the car, she might be annoyed.

Oh the choices.

@MCDuncanLab @ai6yr Snapping wire mouse traps with crunchy peanut butter enticement, with traps placed along edge of walls. Does not “relocate them humanely”, but solves problem in garage or enclosed room. Challenge: You may need to check daily and keep doing long term. Once caught more than 20 in a month at a rarely-used antenna test building. Crows came to building each morning for breakfast after third day. #Mice

We accidentally made a mouse death trap. We have a very large bucket on a shelf that the mice frequent. There is a rope handle they can grab and get into the bucket, but it is too deep for them to get out.

This spring, I got the bucket out to use for something, and it had like 50 dead mice or partial mice in it🤢 .

We don't do the snap traps because the cat sometimes goes into the garage.

@MCDuncanLab @n8dmt That's a pretty good trap! Maybe not great to collect 50 of them in there. That was a speech in a James Bond movie. 🤔

Yes that was the source of the partial mice 🤢
