Yesterday I opened a bag of Evergreat brand rice vermicelli to make some vermicelli soup. I saw some small little brown specks that looked flax seeds but half the size. Eventually, more and more of these started floating in the soup and I was thoroughly confused. After a while, small white specks appeared that looked as if the flax seeds had germinated. I was so confused.

I then inspected the plastic bag containing the vermicelli and saw at a bunch of the same flax seed looking stuff at the bottom, along with lots of white dust and white grubs. Turns out the bag had an infestation of cigarette beetles.

I was so crestfallen that I had to throw away a pot of soup 😭

Friends, check the dry goods that you buy, even if they come in sealed plastic packages.
