The #US circulated an unclassified cable, sharing details about #Cuba's support for #Russia's war in #Ukraine, as part of its campaign to counter a #UN resolution calling for #Washington to lift its embargo on the #Caribbean nation, which has been in place since 1960.
In it, it is noted that after #North_Korea, #Cuba is the "largest contributor of foreign troops to Russia's aggression, with an estimated 1,000 to 5,000 #Cubans fighting in #Ukraine." The #US State Department declined to provide additional details on the #Cuban fighters but said it was aware of reports that they were serving alongside #Russian troops
