The British Transport Police (BTP) says it will not investigate bike thefts outside stations where the bicycle has been left for more than two hours.

It became clear that the idea of looking (eg) first at the 8-hour mark in 16 hours of CCTV to see if the bike was still there, then at either the 4- or 12-hour mark, and so forth, was some kind of sorcery beyond their comprehension.
