When this is all over, some people will need to be executed or imprisoned for life, a political party and its members will have to be banned, a bunch of companies will need to be dismantled, and the wealthy will need to have their assets seized and redistributed.

The longer people pretend otherwise, the worse things are going to get.

"Normal" Americans don't understand that the rule of law has already collapsed and the country is governed by sheer inertia at this point.

Most of them don't even know what's happening except everything suddenly costs more.

Trump, being in office, will naturally be blamed, but if you think we can vote or legislate our way out of this, what a sunny optimist you are.

The rich and powerful perpetuate the negative feedback loops that will keep bringing us to this point.

The rest of the world, however? They are either watching nervously or have severed ties with us as best they can.
@gwynnion reform is not possible for a system that, again and again, shows that it will actively and aggressively dismantle all protections put in place against its rapacious devouring and exploitation of the working class and our planet. Moderation of or negotiation with such a system is not possible. The only option we have is the dissolution of private ownership of capital.
@gwynnion and we've gone way past the point now where "but revolutions are violent messy things" is a valid excuse. The revolution didn't HAVE to be violent and messy; we had decades of ample opportunity to make it peacefully and gradually.

@zrb @gwynnion

Well we could mosey back the way we came but the wealthy have weaponized it so we can't. They are guaranteeing that it WILL be messy.

@gwynnion

Terrible but true analysis. I don't think it's the end of democracy but it is placed in great danger. To be prosperous it must be populated by free thinkers, not self-interested executors. Otherwise it leads to autocracy.

@gwynnion and, as usual, if you look for someone to blame, you just need a mirror.
