@JessTheUnstill we elected people who hold up passive aggressive little signs instead of actually doing their jobs

@Viss @JessTheUnstill Actually, the problem is that we did NOT elect a majority of Democrats.

Because… every sitting SCOTUS justice nominated by Democrats is trying to maintain our Democracy. And, none of this absolute insanity being done by the President and unchallenged by Congress… was happening when Democrats were in charge.

In fact, if people actually voted for Democrats regularly, it’s undeniable things would be much better today.

But let’s complain about the minority party instead of the people in charge??????

@mls14 @Viss @JessTheUnstill

Yeah let's complain about an opposition that can't field a candidate who can beat a convicted felon.

@Dave_Goldsmith @mls14 @Viss @JessTheUnstill the candidate was fine. The electorate was fing dumb.

@Jam123 @Dave_Goldsmith @mls14 @Viss @JessTheUnstill

The candidate can be changed; the electorate can't.

@dankmane @Jam123 @Dave_Goldsmith @Viss @JessTheUnstill So, people don’t have free will?

They could choose between a Nazi and a black woman and somehow the actions of somebody in the Democratic Party forced them to pick the Nazi?

Trump voters and non-voters need to OWN this. Because only THEY can fix it. By switching away from the GOP or showing up, respectively.

@mls14 @dankmane @Jam123 @Viss @JessTheUnstill

The Dems ran a candidate that lost to a convicted felon. I'm not placing blame, I am stating the facts.

I'd say that is an indictment of our polity and it doesn't speak well for the "loyal opposition," either, IMHO.

@Dave_Goldsmith @mls14 @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill again that falls upon the electorate Democracy only works if the voters educate themselves but we all know that most folks won't be bothered.

@Jam123 @Dave_Goldsmith @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill Yes, I think the challenge is educating people and breaking through the social media propaganda bubbles.

Short-term, we need to focus on: putting more desirable candidates on the ballot through higher primary turnout. And then swarm the general elections to get rid of as many Republicans as possible.

It will take work and time to pull this backsliding democracy back on track.

@mls14 @Jam123 @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill

I AM encouraged that you think there will ever again be free and fair elections in the U.S.

@Dave_Goldsmith @mls14 @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill yes it is likely there won't as no one would vote for the women. I've been seeing alot of stories about soy bean farmers crying foul over Trump's tarrifs on China. He did something similar in his first term and promised to do the same in his second. Yet many farmers still lined up to vote for him. The ones who voted for Trump got what they voted for.
@Jam123 @Dave_Goldsmith @mls14 @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill You are correct. Which is why representative democracy has always been vulnerable to conmen & oligarchs. The problem is in finding a system that better serves the interests of the people.

@Tattered @Jam123 @mls14 @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill

FINDING the solution may not be difficult. IMPLIMENTING it in the U.S. may be impossible.

@Dave_Goldsmith @Tattered @Jam123 @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill No blame, no solutions. Just give up?

The US is backsliding as a democracy, but most of our institutions are still intact. We still have elections.

If one is truly nihilistic as you present yourself, I ask this: why try to convince others of your position? It doesn’t matter anyway.

@mls14 @Tattered @Jam123 @dankmane @Viss @JessTheUnstill

I'm not a nihilist and I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything. I am engaged in a conversation and am trying to understand other points of view.

@Dave_Goldsmith @dankmane @Jam123 @Viss @JessTheUnstill You placed blame in your prior post. And then placed blame AGAIN in the sentence after saying you aren’t placing blame.

All while ignoring the myriad factors other people are discussing that might make a difference in the future. And refusing to offer any of your own ideas for solutions.

@mls14 @dankmane @Jam123 @Viss @JessTheUnstill

I place no blame and I have no solutions. I am not encouraged that some people seem to be placing blame on an electorate insufficiently motivated by their own chosen candidate to vote against a felon.
