Surprise! I must’ve been less attentive in the garden this past week because I didn’t notice this pumpkin forming. It’s the first one so far. It fertilized itself and hasn’t suffered blossom end rot (yet!)

This is my first time growing Seminole pumpkins and I think I started them too early. I was excited lol. I have a few more seeds that I will start in August so that they can be ready by November, just in case the ones in the ground now don’t produce well. #zone10 #gardening #Florida

Update: I killed 2 of my 3 pumpkin plants. I saw some pest damage & tried to fix it with BT but didn’t dilute it enough and the leaves burned. Thankfully I have some seeds left to plant a second round.

Between climate challenges and my own mistakes, I’ve had a lot of discouragement in the garden. The thing that keeps me planting is: 1. I just like the activity and 2. Grocery store produce sucks. I can’t go back! #gardening #GardeningFailure

So I kept the one immature Seminole pumpkin that I got from the plant I killed and it eventually ripened. I cut it in half and there wasn’t much flesh, but there were tons of seeds! I initially purchased 10 seeds and now I have however many are on that towel–not to mention the three pumpkin plants I have growing in the garden right now. This kind of exponential self-replication is how the Earth shows us it’s tendency to offer abundance. #gardening #SeedHarvesting #seeds
