My #framework12 notebook arrived early 😁 (charge 11, planned to be "shipped in October"). Looks like something to do for the weekend. And to learn, this will be my first #linux device to work on. #framework#fedora
@johartig i can only recommend to use a immutable Linux. For example fedora Silverblue or kinoite. Also recommend @UniversalBlue images built on top of aforementioned! If you need advice for the entry into Linux hit me up with a message
@twojays@UniversalBlue Thank you! I installed Fedora KDE plasma and had a very smooth start so far. Most elements are highly intuitive, and most other things were easy to find with a quick online search. I connected most of the services (mail, cloud) I require and already used the notebook for routine work including video calls.
@twojays@UniversalBlue The only issue not resolved yet is OneDrive synchronisation (I wish I wouldn't need it anyway, but that's not my decision). This is probably due to administrative restrictions from our (= my employer's) IT, however.
@simongrund@johartig at least for my FW13 the keyboard is one of the better ones you can find in a compact laptop! Good travel, low and a bit more thumpy sound Build quality is good. Solid but maybe not as sturdy as a Thinkpad...
@twojays@simongrund Yes, it's early, but currently I am very satisfied with the quality of the hardware. The keyboard is pleasant to use, the touchscreen is responsive, and the casing makes a very sturdy impression. That said, for a primary working device I'd probably go for the FW13 for the better performance and somewhat larger screen. I will work on the FW12 particularly when traveling, but it's also a family device to be used by the kids.
@johartig Enjoy - I got mine a bit ago, and I really love the keyboard in particular. Usually I loathe laptop keyboards, but it's a pleasure to type on.
