When RFK Jr. "investigates" autism, be aware that he is deliberately and knowingly engaging in eugenics.

He's literally looking for ways to eliminate people like me from the human race.

I'm autistic.

So when you ask "what causes you?", you're positioning me as something that needs to be investigated. Something that needs to be "cured", which is to say, eliminated. Because I think in a different pattern than some folk do.

When someone says, "X causes autism, so avoid X", they're saying, "or your kid might have (gasp) *autism* too!"

This is eugenics. It's Nazi stuff. Not an exaggeration. A "science" under the Nazis.

We are not broken. We do not need fixing. We just think differently. But we have always been around. That dude that wrote an eleven-volume handwritten guide to every herb in one county in England, or wherever it was? Telling me he wasn't one of my people? GTF.

We are and always have been productive and innovative members of society. If anything, we should be seen as an advantage to the species: diversity of thought is *better* thought. Not ours or yours better - but ours and yours are.

We aren't a threat, we're not (for the most part) needing round-the-clock specialist care - but be human, will you? If someone needs that, maybe give it to them? Because they're people?

Didn't we fight a big war about this a few years back? Something about a guy with a bad moustache who didn't like the disabled people in his society? Among his many targets?

Seems to me his central thesis was "I will decide who's people and who isn't people."

And that some of us are saying, "How about maybe not? How about all the people matter, and we try to keep ourselves alive all together?"

I cannot personally imagine how anyone decides his plan is better. Or more moral.

But I'll be over here on Team Everybody Else.

It's possible? Not saying you're wrong. But I do lean more towards it's a blood purity thing. They don't like people who think differently. They don''t know how to make us think like them, and they don't feel safe unless everyone is thinking ilke them. Eugenicists are driven by fear. Fear of people in power not being white. Fear of majority brown nations. All kinds of other racist shit. And ableist. And queerphobic. Misogynistic. And so on.

It's about bigotry. They can't cope with seeing people they have convinced themselves are inferior outworking and surpassing them.

There has to be a sinister someone behind them, helping them out, because we all know that the white man is supreme!

It is perfectly fitted to Trump's worldview. He has that bizarre idea that somehow his uncle being a professor at MIT makes him very smart and having "great genes".

No. His grandfather's mediocrity produced DJT's father, AND somehow his intelligent son too. And DJT got none of the smart bits.

It's why I think he was drawn to Nazism in tthe first place. He believes he has better blood than us. Like a king. That he was destined to rule.

They appeal to his ego, so he swallows it whole.

I honestly feel like, if anyone is "disabled" it's people who live on fear & are incapable of feeling empathy. What an awful way to exist. And what a boring world it would be if everyone thought and acted the same. It's the sort of thing, if you're talking in biological terms, that leads to species extinction. @Thebratdragon @oldladyplays They're conformists first and foremost, all about the "right" way of things and rigid hierarchies. ND fall outside the conformity because they don't understand how the ND mind works and anything they can't understand is against the structure of conformity they have.

All is zero sum, either you're with them or against them even if you have no interest in their thing and would prefer they stuck to their thing over there away from you thanks.

You're labelled as "trouble" thereafter for being "too smart" and that's at the core of it, you didn't go along and were seen as a threat. He wants to promote uncertainty and fear, so he is re-using the "bogeyman" of autism for whatever.

And there is grift, of course:

Some competitor to Tylenol paid some money to get cheap and reliable painkillers made suspect.

They will probably pivot to opioids.

It is not about autism, next they will come any and all ND people.

It is, as @Thebratdragon says, about getting rid of anyone and everyone who doesn't adhere to their image of what is a human being: obedient, working hard (for them), happy with panem et circenses.

They know they can't wipe out all ND people, but they will try to wipe out all those who are "obviously" ND and the others will need to cave in and just hold their heads down - after all, you can never wipe out a whole group of people if you can't identify them.

Unfortunately, without ND people humanity will immediately stagnate and any progress will come to a halt very quickly.

This is when they will realize that they have doomed all of humanity, all of it. This is when humanity will, irreversibly, die out. But then again, they will be sitting in their bunkers and eating caviar.

The reason is clear: most all artists, scientists, creative people, anarchists (who change the world), ... they are all one way or other ND - otherwise they would not have asked the question "how can this be better", or they would not have seen beauty where others just saw some colors, seen the bright future where others saw gray-in-gray...

ND people were the driving force behind all the progress in human history.

@oldladyplays Autism can be pretty hard on parents and on those who have it. Comes in various forms, some quite extreme--you don't ever want to see someone to have to go through that.

So I totally get why people want to find a cure or whatever. Doesn't mean they want us dead. You don't want a kid born blind or deaf either, but you don't want to go around killing deaf and blind people. Some peoples' autism is in fact a debility.

JFK's motivations are something else. He's fucked.

If I were a cynical girl, I might stop to pause and wonder why the powers that be are interested in wiping out a 'disease' which, while it has its (often significant) downsides, also causes increased creativity and hyperfocus, empathy, and an innate sense of morality not primarily decided by what others might think of you, but rather how you'd feel about yourself.

Why, the people who would try and stop that sound pretty amoral, don't they?

I don't *think* I'm autistic but your post sent me off on a search about herbalists. My first thought was Culpepper but he published a lot of smaller, popular books.
