As Rep Crocket points out, only 2 of the 58 Dems who voted "NO" on the Charlie Kirk resolution are white (Molten-MA, Quigley-IL) & CBC condemned the resolution.

The Dem Base is Black women, Black men, & broadly people of color—and the majority of Democrats ignored them to honor a known racist, xenophobe, & misogynist. Smh.

This is not a winning strategy. It’s a base alienation strategy.

@QasimRashid

I can understand a Democrat opting to abstain, but to vote for a fucking fascist who regularly attacked them and, more importantly, their voters?

What in the absolute fuck was going through their heads (notice I didn't say brains)?
@ferricoxide @QasimRashid yeah, nothing is happening to anyone and it's fine don't worry you can just be like "fuck you fascists" and it's fine
@ferricoxide @QasimRashid weird wording on the original post about who did vote for it, it's fine, this division is fine too
@QasimRashid as European I don't understand what why these people vote the way they do. Do they hope the republican party will like them?
@QasimRashid note, plenty of weird voting in Europe too, I know .
@gerbrand @QasimRashid that or maybe normal people in the Democratic party who aren't on the extreme fringe.
@QasimRashid so… consistent with the behavior across the board for establishment dems, eh?

@QasimRashid
Based on the Congress.gov record for HRes 719, it was announced as passed on a voice vote by Mike Johnson, and Rep. Biggs (R-AZ, to my surprise) called for a count, and further proceedings were then postponed to a future time. Has any further action been taken?

Very disappointed that my Congresswoman, #SpeakerEmerita #NancyPelosi, apparently did not vote on this. Would have been a wonderful opportunity for someone of her stature to offer a resolution condemning political violence, while expressly refusing to endorse the lies in the GOP resolution. Wouldn't have passed, of course - but it is an important statement to make.

@QasimRashid
And clearly Congress.gov is slow to update - on the 19th HRes 719 got a surprising amount (95) of yes votes from Dems, 58 no votes, 38 voting "present" and 22 Democrats just not voting - I guess running away from a hard vote is simplest solution for such beacons of democratic values as Pelosi.

"This resolution (1) condemns the assassination of Charles "Charlie" James Kirk and all forms of political violence; and (2) honors the life, leadership, and legacy of Charlie Kirk.

That one line summary would have been fine if truncated after the "violence" - honoring the life, leadership and legacy of a bigot and liar is a step too far.

@QasimRashid I’m a white man and if Ami Bera hadn’t already lost my vote next year over the Al Green censure, this would have done it.
@QasimRashid Primary each and every one of them
@QasimRashid the Democrats are the Republicans too.

@QasimRashid

Whoa.

So, when white liberals complain about "some people" not having proper sympathy for Charlie Kirk, it's starting to sound like they're actually referring to "THOSE people" ...?

Yikes.

@QasimRashid
The Democratic Party’s goal (ineffective as it may be) seems to be to usurp the Republican Party as the party of choice for the affluent while gatekeeping progressives and the working class from ever achieving any power.

@QasimRashid the diseased mind centrist gerontocrats will kill us, I keep repeating, hoping it will be heeded.

It's time to let the white old guys GO.

Only PROGRESSIVE, YOUNG, FIERCE, UNCOMPROMISING leadership will save the democrats.

IF they want to be saved, even. The Schummers and Pelosis are fine playing victim and collecting billionaire donors funds, scamming individual donors...
