I can cope with the battery life, or the lack of cameras, or even the mono speaker.

What really disappoints me, about the iPhone Air, however, is the color.

You're buying a phone entirely for its looks, not its features — but the colors are so subtle that the choices might as well not exist. Holding Light Gold in hand, I can't tell there's even a hint of gold to it. The Black and White choices are the only correct options. I don't know why Apple, year after year, gets color so wrong

Oh well

@stroughtonsmith OK, explain it to me please. I'm totally blind so *why anyone* cares about the colour of the thing when it's almost definitely gonna be in a case anyway is beyond me. Literally do not get it. You see it for the 20 seconds it takes to put in a sim (if even that) and then you don't see it again. Why do people care at all? Genuine question, I'm not trying to troll. I have 0 sight so I just don't get it in the slightest.

@FreakyFwoof I have never used an iPhone in a case. I don't know that I'm equipped to explain color to someone without sight, though 😅

How about comparing it to texture, or music? Different strokes for different folks

@stroughtonsmith Aah, you don't? I've heard of this before, in dark places and back alleys, those that go caseless like rebels but I thought it was an urban myth, just something to tell the kids late at night.
'If you don't put a case on your phone, the bad people will come and drop it and it won't ever work again.'
@dhpersonal @stroughtonsmith Oh damn. It's actually real... You do exist. I tell you what, you're braver than I.
@dhpersonal @stroughtonsmith Dropped Nokias on the floor back in the day and the floor chipped. Drill bit couldn't penetrate that thing but nope, Nokia 1, floor 0. These days though, the thought of having a thin, slippy bit of hugely expensive glass with 0 protection freaks me out way too much. Maybe the wallet attachment changes that.
@stroughtonsmith Even more maddening since the blue and especially orange of the Pro phones are so gorgeous.

@stroughtonsmith the weirdest thing is that they *used* to make things with real colors and they were so lovely

I used the shit out of my iPod Nano (I think 5th gen?) and the anodized aluminum is still bright blue and nearly flawless. It is so, so pretty.

Honestly this thing _still_ feels basically impossible and it is sixteen years old.

@stroughtonsmith did you go with a bumper? I grabbed a black one and agree, with the back you can’t tell any gold. May just return bumper tbh and risk it?
@stroughtonsmith Either my local Apple Store didn’t have Sky Blue on display or I couldn’t tell the difference between it and the silver under their own lighting (same with the gold except for the slight different color band)
