Jollof rice is a staple food in many West African countries — which is a good job, because Nigerian chef Hilda Baci just cooked a whole heap of it. Last Friday, she broke the Guinness World Record for cooking the largest ever pot of the spiced tomato dish, which weighed in at 8,780 kilograms (more than 19,000 pounds). Afterwards, the rice was distributed to spectators. Here's more from @AssociatedPress.

Chef breaks jollof rice dish record

A new world record has been set for the largest serving of Nigeria-style jollof rice. Guinness World Records confirmed the achievement by Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci. Last Friday, Baci, who briefly held the world record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, made a pot of 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice, a popular West African delicacy made of rice cooked in pepper sauce. The food is a staple across the region.
