[P] It'e easy to be certain that this is a matter of consciousness, not intelligence, I find. Many non-human animals even can effortlessly tell what is less vs. more. In our case, wealth barons have more to the tune of almost everything, immigrants and refugees have less to the tune of almost nothing. This is unfair. Any non-human animal I've seen would object to the unfairness of greed. Octopuses slap greedy fish! Mutualism is logical.

[P] I don't think human lemmings are too infinitesimally-gifted to do this most basic of math. It's more like a process is getting in the way and inhibiting their thoughts, keeping them in a more unconscious state, like a noisy primal brain. We all have one of those, with intellect layered atop like a cake. It's just that theirs places "GET TRIBE!" and "MAKE DANGEROUS DARK PROTECTOR HEAD OF TRIBE!" as the most important priorities.

[P] It reminds me of the slylandro probes from Star Control II. They set the procedure to gather resources to the highest pissible value, thus when the probes met alien races they were supposed to initiate first contact with? The probes saw only resources and it overrode their first contact routines. It's like that for lemmings. They have weird priorities. Very wrong ones. And thus, consciousness systems are overridden. Set to off.

[P] It's a horrible quirk of evolution, like a sick joke. Human lemmings have their priorities set to find a Dark Protector, but no such entity exists. All Dark Triad abominations care about is how much they can exploit others for their own gain. As lemmings have a kudicrously low priority for consciousness, they can't question their priorities. Thry can only obey them. And obey them they do, as destructively as possible.

[P] How am I to see human lemmings as aught but badly programmed robots? A moment of consciousness is all it takes for thoughts like "Oh, none of these would be Dark Protectors have ever done anything to help us, so why do we serve them?" and "Oh, those brown people have so much less money and power than I, so why do I feel threatened by them again?" It isn't that lemmings think dimly, but that they can't think curiously—consciously.
