I know I’m late, but I just tried to build and run my apps on macOS 26 and… I’m not fixing that shit
This all brought me to some thoughts about desktop UIs. I think the idea of bringing it closer to mobile/touchscreen UI is a wrong direction in 2025. Between 2005-2015 computers became truly a commodity and the main computing device during this period was desktop PC. Simpler UI, which guides you to the main functions, makes sense in this case, because computers must be accessible.
In 2025 a significant portion of people can do everything they need on a phone or tablet. Others only use desktop PCs as a “portal” to a web browser. So, I think, in 2025 desktop UI doesn’t have to cater to a wide audience. Instead, it can be tailored to the needs of advanced users who can afford a steeper learning curve. Maybe we should stop hiding “non-essential” features for the sake of not overwhelming user, maybe we can make UI denser. Power users know better what is essential to them.
Unironically, I started thinking that this is actually great UX. If this is convenient for some user and it makes them more efficient, why should we stand in their way?
@leonspok So does this mean that Irvue bugs on macOS 26 aren't going to get fixed or are you referring to UI-specific issues due to the major changes in macOS?
@zepfhyr Yes, I thought I’ll opt-out from Liquid Glass for some time until it stabilises. But other functional fixes should definitely be made

@leonspok Understood. And I agree that shifting to a Liquid Glass design is unnecessary at this time.

Not sure why, but yesterday, Irvue started using 1000% CPU. I had only installed macOS 26 that morning, so I assume that was the culprit, but could also have been dumb luck.

@zepfhyr I had a couple of reports about this, but couldn’t pinpoint the issue yet because I can’t reproduce it in a VM and I still haven’t upgraded my laptop to macOS 26.
One thing I noticed that might be the reason - both users who sent me these reports had multi-monitor setting enabled (different pictures on each monitor). I you have this too, try to switch to the default “same picture” option.

@leonspok Interesting. That would make sense. I've got two external monitors, so that does seem to be a key element.

Let me know if you want any logs.

@zepfhyr Hi! I’ve made a few fixes, but so far the feedback was mixed. I haven’t released this version yet, but you can try it on TestFlight: https://testflight.apple.com/join/7ECoFDiG
