@EUCommission "Europe must fight for its freedom" as if Europe were a person. Hellooo? WE, THE PEOPLE are Europe, I AM Europe. And if you make #ChatControl mandatory you take a piece of my #freedom away

Hello @ranx!
Let us be clear: under this proposal, there is no general monitoring of online communications. There will be no such thing as “chat control”.

Only material that is clearly child sexual abuse will be searched for and can be detected.

Detection orders can only be issued by judicial or independent administrative authorities at the end of a thorough process to assess necessity and proportionality, balancing all the fundamental rights at stake.

@EUCommission @ranx wdym "can be detected"? there's no ai model with 100% accuracy, and for the subject in question, there doesn't even seem to be one with 50% accuracy.

@ww @EUCommission @ranx

Only material that is clearly child sexual abuse

Maybe this is meant as known material? In that case, you can e.g. calculate a hash value.

Maybe they are misinformed. Maybe they are bad with words. Maybe they even have a relaxed relationship with the truth.

@wakame @ranx @EUCommission i'm curious which one it is, but i think they pick the posts to reply to with a dice roll, so we'll probably never find out

@wakame @ww @ranx either way, I won't obey #cyberfacist laws that violate my Constiutional Rights as a German Citizen to #Privacy, but encrypt harder...

  • @EUCommission would be wise not to cross that big red line, cuz most people may not merely protest against such #fascism.

That's NOT a threat, just me "reading the room" and telling folks like #Zensursula that it's a bad Idea to walk across a frozen lake with a plasma torch pointed at the ice in front of one's feet...

  • I'd rather die than let someone search my comms as a matter of principle (right to remain silent aka. right to not self-incriminate, which cannot be used against the person as an admission of guilt or other penalty!), but others may just decide to fight for their inalienable rights cuz without #HumanRights & #CivilRights the #EU would be as much of a #cleptocracy as the #USA
