Add to that the not deselectable auto-translation Youtube is doing.
I hate it so much.
Recently even many audio-tracks are soulless Al voices instead of the original track.

Carighan MaconarThis pisses my partner off. She became quite fluent in English over the past few years, but the headlines and descriptions all get auto-translated to German anyways. Unlike every other platform, there is no "Never translate language XYZ"-option, which Google Translate OTOH does offer.
And just swapping her account language to English UK or so doesn't help: Then German videos get translated. Same problem in reverse. Seems the Google managers are unable to imagine someone speaking 2+ languages....
I hate it doubly so
After training YT to not show me stuff from my homeland, suddenly I started getting hit in the face with my language -.-’

But why are you seeing ads in Lemmy?
If you use the free version of Lemmy, you get ads.
Then why use apps?
You are in the community for an app, everyone here just prefers boost and is willing to deal with the ads/donate to the dev to remove them because it means they get to use boost.
And I was trying to find out why, but that doesn’t seem like it will be productive

It’s just an advertisement for Youtube…
When I post YT, I manually grab the thumbnail or a more relevant screenshot and upload that to the pic rs server through the instance widget. Then I copy the link and post it to the top of the comment, and paste the video description quoted below.
It won't integrate into apps and front ends, but I personally never use a browser for YT, so I do not care. I'm copying and pasting links to Pipe Pipe anyways.
That makes things pretty with a pic, title, and relevant description for everyone.
