Photos were taken 9 months apart. The first is from December and shows a shelf mushroom beginning to grow a second mushroom off itself, looking like a large marshmallow.

The second photo is from this past week and you can see the marshmallow grew into… a Mongolian sheepskin cap. 😄

@elliek This fallen tree is on a stretch of narrow trail about 15 feet above the brook, so I’m always looking down at my footing. Which helps finds mushrooms!
