Well I never... a rainbow appeared before sunrise, created just by the light of an orange and red glow in the east. There's a first time for everything. I've certainly never see such a thing before.
@GetCarter i have seen a similar sunset bow quite magnificient.

@GetCarter

Wow... I hadn't seen a sunrise rainbow before until yesterday! Small world! We both got a big treat recently, very far apart in distance but the timing is awesome.

@CoastalCoasting @GetCarter i _think_ the rain is reflecting the sunrise back to you as a rainbow. The rain is higher so sees the sunrise slightly earlier.
@GetCarter
Stunning! A rainbow comet arriving or passing by… 😊
@GetCarter That's a very rare sight. I've only seen a rainbow in the morning once; I still kick myself for not getting a photo.

@nantucketlit @GetCarter

I didn't get a photo either. Talked with a friend, she saw it too, she didn't take a picture either.. we were so flustered.

It's SO intriguing to look at, time stops and it was gone too soon right? We had to scour around the net with hashtags hoping someone else had the presence of mind like Carter had! Found someone who took the picture, they're credited in the link. Grateful someone caught it and did it justice. Only took a half a century +, and it was worth the wait!

@GetCarter i.seen em rarely they always pretty

@GetCarter
oh this must be the rainbow I saw on yesterdays sunset : D
@GetCarter Makes me think of the theory that Saturn's moon Titan might have infrared rainbows.
@GetCarter I've seen something like that at sunset a few times
@GetCarter This is entirely possible! You don't have to be able to see the sun, but the sunlight (hidden just below the horizon for you but visible at higher altitudes) refracts through the raindrops at a higher altitude so you still see the rainbow. It's mostly red and yellow because those colours have the longest wavelengths. Shorter wavelengths scatter over long distances, making green/blue/violet less visible.
