Oh, wow. I was just laid off. I held the position of Software Designer, but I did so much more. I revamped our main website, our intranet, a wiki site for a knowledge base, trained two chatbots on support documents and “vibe coded” a new web app all since January 2025 for this company.

I got a new development manager boss in June and things started changing, but I never thought they'd eliminate a position just to push me out.

Anyone need a “jack of all trades" kind of employee with a background in agriculture. I'm a UX designer, not a full stack dev.

THANK YOU ALL for your kind replies and boosts! I’m overwhelmed. I want to add a bit of context that is admittedly self-serving.

I worked for this company for 10 years. My last performance review was stellar. I even received two raises within 12 months because of performance & still was laid off. No one is safe.

I’m also a liver transplant survivor—11 years post. My health is great but I work hard at it. I must have health insurance because I’m always at risk of organ rejection. I also have routine bloodwork & see multiple specialists regularly. I’ll figure it out, but high anxiety until it do.

I have made the decision to seek as much contract work as I can while applying for full-time positions. (while a little loopy on Valium during my oral surgery today)

It is a sign from the universe that now is the time to work for myself if I can get enough jobs to pay rent, health insurance, and service my debt (car, credit cards).
