Evernote, an app I once loved, has completely tumbled down a rabbit hole of dark-pattern pricing and become a hellscape.
@harrymccracken I migrated there from keep long ago. Their pricing has led to me exporting with no migration plan. Is something I need to work on.
@harrymccracken
The enshitification is pervasive
@harrymccracken I gave Evernote the heave ho years ago when they started stumbling. Appears that they never regained their tumbling
@harrymccracken I used it until about a year ago when it became ridiculous.
@harrymccracken I used to run Evernote in my BlackBerry. The old day s. Cheers

@harrymccracken Exported my Notes into a self-hosted Nextcloud instance. Was difficult to find something that supported the same family sharing functionality but that did it.

And yeah, I believe I signed up with Evernote at launch at one of the valley conventions. So sad to have lived through the positivity of the Web 2.0 promises to the VC profit maximizing hell it became.

@harrymccracken I used the free version for years. Probably would have become a paid user if they had handled things better. Instead I just left. Now I am a happy user of @joplinapp
@harrymccracken I used and loved evernote for many years. Then things started to change, in the wrong direction. When I lost notes due to issues with the sync I left and never looked back.
