I’m tired and trying to do too much.

How do you keep energized and focused on the work that needs to be done?

I think we need to talk more about burnout as activists.

On the individual level:
- doing selfcare: sports, get enough sleep, not abuse caffeine&other drugs, eat well and care for emotional needs (that sounds like cheap advice, but I say that to myself, too...)
- for the stuff that really needs to get done and where it applies: a weenie bit of optimization. When I am most effective? (hormonal cycle, hour of the day, concentration curve) -> don't waste your time working onnstuff when you are not efficient. Organize your calendar around your efficient moments.
- talk with others about hownyou feel. We need a culture of honest communication.

On the community level:
-Trying to participate in the creation of structures that work also without me.
-Empowering others instead of assuming tat it is me who has to shoulder everything.
- As somebody who gets easily trapped in overburdening positions, I like this sentence:
"If you keep an organization running through self-sacrifice, you are taking away the opportunity for institutional learning and adaption towards a more resilient structure." (can't remember who said this or in which language....)

And I cannot recommend more this book "Overcoming burnout" by Nicole Rose. Addresses very well the individual and community levels .

Take care and thank you for everything you are doing! It matters.
