Are 377,000 people “missing” in Gaza? This number has been shared by many internet users and media, who claim to be relying on a “Harvard report”. However, this figure misinterprets an Israeli study, which itself contains an error in the numbers at the root of the confusion. As of June 24, 56,077 Gazans have been killed since October 7, 2023, according to the health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza.

The UN Has done absolutely Nothing to stop the full on Genocide in Gaza so what are they there for?
It's absolutely HORRIFIC what's happening in Gaza, but posts like this that involve 'statistics', MUST be accompanied by sources. Without sources, claims such as the ones made here, are nothing more than exactly that: claims.
Social media are full of unsubstantiated claims, and even well-intentioned posts, such as this one, risk muddying the waters instead of clearing them.
Help stop the spread of misinformation, post facts.

As the number of Palestinians killed in the Israel-Hamas war continues to rise, social media users are falsely claiming that a Harvard University study has determined that nearly 400,000 in the Gaza Strip are also missing. But Harvard published no such study. This estimate misrepresents a map included in a report by a professor at Israel’s Ben Gurion University that shows the distance between new aid distribution compounds in Gaza and three main populations centers. Using spatial analysis, the report determined that these compounds are inadequate and does not address how many people in Gaza are missing.
