Nearly finished scything the wildflower meadow: 8 swathes cut over the past 5 days and 1.5 to go, which will get finished this afternoon.
(The separate, overgrown strip on the left is a swale that is not cut, remaining as a refuge for wildlife over winter.)

The only plants still flowering are a few examples of Yarrow, Ragwort and Field Scabious, so I don't feel too guilty for cutting those down.
This Common Blue butterfly has some other flowers to feed on nearby.

Now I "simply" have to rake up all the cuttings and add them to the compost heap - then use the mower with its grass-box to remove the growth the scythe didn't manage to cut, reducing the soil fertility to favour flowers over grass next year.
