The Tasmanian government has announced that from 2029 (when the current funding deal expires) funding will cease for greyhound racing in the state. This isn't an explicit ban, but given the loss making nature of the industry, it's likely it won't survive without being propped up by the government.

This is great news, and the remaining states should follow suit so we can end this barbaric, cruel practice in Australia once and for all.

@BobDendry Why does any of the racing industry get government funding? We all know that the primary purpose of a racing industry is to provide the foundation for a gambling industry. The bookies and the TAB never lose - they should pay.
