Stephen Lautens: "Canada: Walk away from negotiations. Don't retaliate. Diversify. Find new markets. Buy European military equipment. Reinstate the digital services tax. Let Americans pay more for the things they want from us. Keep up the public boycott. Welcome American refugee talent. Be Canadian." #cdnpoli

@AlisonCreekside This is first level of correct response.

The MOST idealest level would be to fire back, hurting where the funders of tRumpo's shittiness have their innermost anchors: their revenue.

Declare end to protection of US IP from large corporations of the douchebag techbro billionaires funding him. SANCTION THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT OF RUSSIA.

@AlisonCreekside Then hurt tRumpo where it hurts the most: his self image. Keep a steady media presence of reporting on topics that hurt tRumpo; a mandatory update on Epstein stuff, a mocking daily report of his doddering dementia decline, in best Mr Bean style.

@AlisonCreekside Elbows Up Canada! Sad it has come to this with our friends and neighbors to the north.

@Doreen32128 @AlisonCreekside It's impossible to negotiate with an extortionist. But our reps know that, I'm sure. I'm watching the stock market and expecting changes any day.

Really feeling for friends south of our border.

@AlisonCreekside Buy Canadian also means building our own Saab Gripen fighter jets.
@NovaNaturalist @AlisonCreekside Yes: very interested in those and/or the Korean offering. Trump will go apoplectic and maybe burst a vessel if we shut down the F-35 purchase. And there are soooo many good reasons to do so. Cost. Control of technical processes...

@AlisonCreekside

Because life is too short to spend with assholes…

@AlisonCreekside This is what we ALL need to do. Us in the EU just as much as you good people in Canada, our friends in Mexico, up and coming economies in South America, Africa and Asia. It's a big world full of trade opportunities. Too long have we relied on the USA's gluttony to present us with easy markets. Yeah it may be a bit harder to figure it all out between us, but we should embrace the challenge. And leave the USA to stew in its tariffs.
@AlisonCreekside - Canadians - apply ABUS (Anywhere But US) when considering shopping or travel needs. Other reliable (read sane) trading partners - plus our own excellent products and services - worth your attention.

@AlisonCreekside

Absolutely. Don't bend the knee today, or you will be bending the knee every single day afterwards. Allies do not force subservience.

@AlisonCreekside as a citizen of the USA I endorse these actions.

@AlisonCreekside Also, someone review the STCA. Because under current interpretation, "American refugees" are an extremely small, extremely tightly defined group. The STCA was negotiated by a very different US govt than the one that exists now. Canada acted in good faith based on that, but the reality in the US has greatly changed since then.

@AlisonCreekside Completely agree. BABA (BUY ANYTHING BUT AMERICAN)
@AlisonCreekside Don't just buy European military, work with Europe to make all our own military stuff. That increased NATO funding should be used spent in the non US NATO economies, making growth for us all and zero revenue for Trumpistan... We don't need Trumpistan hardware that increases our dependence on that unstable place.

@AlisonCreekside

Any Canadians in need of an aerospace research engineer?

Maybe NRC?
