Dear English speaking writing persons as a special one off for August, because I am the hostess for the German Phantastik Prompts this month, I let a site translate them into English. So in case your not already drowning in prompt games, here is a little glimpse into the German community run writing prompts.

If you want to participate, please use the hashtag #FantasticPromptsEnglish to participate & not fill the original hashtag with to many English answers, some are fine but it gets absurd to run a specific language prompt if we all start speaking English in that language room, also people can mute/follow them separately.

I don't plan to provide more translations & please do not expect it from the other hosts, we all have lives outside social media & different levels of time & energy

So, my name is Anna. I've been with the prompts since the beginning, and for almost a year now, I've been writing Star Ryde, an original sci-fi story set in my own universe, more sluggishly than fluently.
This month, I have the honor of posting the Fantasy Prompts for the community.

- Yes absolutely. TLDR, to not simply translate my German answer:
I grew up with adventures and exploration, excursions into humans and their behavior. I hope I can bring something like what i felt, as kid, teen, adult into my work in a more broad and inclusive way.

04.08. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think about your story?

- Kira, for some reason she is my face of Star Ryde despite not having a full facial structure in mind or a skin tone. Than it's Ashlei and that I really should get back into writing on it. But I clearly was a bit over ambitious with the English prompts in addition to the German ones.😅

If you could give your former self ome advice, what would it be?

My German answer today includes a inner self dialogue analyzing myself, why I am so bad in following my own advice I spare you that part.

"The advice is simple sit down on your 2-9 letters (or 16 + a space German has many words for your butt) and simply write, it hasn't to be good. It can be made good later, but if you try to make every scene a masterpiece right away you will not progress in any way."

Not really good, rather stressed.
It should take place before the departure of the Ghoz'Tarc. Anika would probably rotate in the newly expanded kitchen with a few volunteers. Preparing ingredients. It would probably be "Bronze" the Admiralty, including Admiral Ron Hackett Anderson and some Union representatives. Of the crew, only Captain Anika Johanson, XO Kira Knox, Flight Commander Abbishek "Arkham" Pakthi, Dr. Kaiden, Chief Technician Trawella, XO Jenkins, XO Troika, Dr. Waberi, Security Chief Crosby, J., Rose & Talisa would be allowed to attend & the latter 3 only because they are part of Kira's ground team.
At the end there would be a small wrap up in the Captain's cabin discussing the details of the mission with even less crew.

J.'s special blue fried noodles from her home colony and the Draken mysterious, greenish glowing, flame inferno pudding that is actually served flaming. Together with Lorgat stripes flamed on the pudding.
As drinks, whatever the Admiralty would bring.
Probably a few bottles of Romulan Ale,* if bottles of this licensed product could still be found, otherwise from Admiral RHA's private collection of fictional SciFi licensed drinks.

*Because Terrans love their Ancient SciFi, at least most of them, there are all kinds of food and drink from various franchises, in fact, they are the only licenses that still actively exist from those franchises.

How do you feel about reworking texts without the author's knowledge to include advertising? (Search query: advertisement for Maggi soup in a Star Trek novel)

Explanation in case the English search query doesn't provide and results.
This one is a curious case of the early 2000 when the German Heyne Verlag (Printhouse) Implemented such stuff in some German translated books.
Terry Pratchett could intervene and stop that from happening this to his work.

- Short answer I hate it longer answer will be provided in the German answer, probably.

World building through advertisements, something that is particularly popular in video games. What do you think about it and would you use something like this in your work? (Ex: The Outer Worlds, Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 4 & 76).

I like to use it to include eastereggs or to emphasize details and differences between societies.
It can even be very inspiring to just make up nonsense and write an ad for it. Even though I detest advertising in everyday life so much that I would prefer to ban all advertising.
In Star Ryde I would probably only use them if I wanted to build a scene around them (see beginning of answer).
In role-playing games, I often use them for ambience or perfidious distraction.
In creative video games, I even build my own billboards.

I guess is stick with my German answer here someone from the Fediverse I guess since Terry Pratchett is impossible maybe some one non controversial from his bubble.

14. You wake up in your story. What do you do?

Swear, stand up, check my belongings and where I am, some places might be deadly. So hopefully I'm in Union space and not on Moraka aka Talith Prime because drunk by breathing is an cruel death.

Going to a hospital and telling them that I'm a diabetic type 1 and otherwise my memory seems compromised because the stuff I remember don't make sense.

In my "usual" works not really. I am partly in each of my characters, there is always a part from which I explore & develop a character. This are often character archetypes in which I than implement something from me to brake up this archetype. Sometimes more sometimes less.

The whole thing has become a bit of a thing of its own, in RPGs as in the not so seriously ment Prompt answers of "character meets author_ity.
In the beginning Anna was an Character in Fallout 76, than in Fallout 4, than I changed my YouTube account to it & made a Twitter account for it. Than the one here.

Anna has become my link into my fictional worlds & in that regard a self insert.
Also I occasionally react to the Name Anna in daily situations.😅
