Another day, another conversation with the press team where I explain that I did not give the quote in that story and the whole thing is AI slop. This happens once every few weeks now.
@evacide I got quoted as an expert in a legal case! Like they had my name right, Dr MissConstrue, but instead of a bioethicist, they had me listed as a forensic anthropologist. I haven’t never anthropologied, forensic or otherwise. I once unearthed a mummy or something in a National Geographic kit, and that’s as close as I’ve gotten. I have a biological sister from a father I never really knew, who I think does that for a university, but I have literally not spoken to her in 40 years, so I dunno.
Anyway, a reporter called me to ask why I hadn’t testified if I was an expert witness, and I said, erm, wut? And I sent a letter to the clerk that said, oh, but no. Not me. Wasn’t there, wasn’t deposed, don’t know anything about the topic, have been out of academia for decades and am not even an expert in my own field anymore.
It’s my understanding that the attorneys used an LLM.. And are being disbarred.
