A question for the #couchPeleton :
Is there an English language daily cycling #podcast covering the grand tours that is:
1) easily digested by the casual listener
2) ideally 20-30 minutes in length (definitely no more than 45)
3) doesn't major on the hosts making inane conversation with each other and doesn't have 'in jokes'.

I know I'm asking a lot, but with the loss of FTA #tdf coverage by #ITV4 next year we're considering alternatives now - particularly as we won't have reliable TV access for the next week as we're away from home.

@MikeFromLFE you already know about the #NeverStraysFar podcast? #NedBoulting and co.

Itโ€™s a stream of nonsense, really, but informative nonsense. (Maybe fails your final test)

Never Strays Far | Cycling Podcast

Hosted by Ned Boulting, David Millar and Pete Kennaugh. The three talk about lots of things, although they never stray far from the core issue, bike racing. Expect guests from the racing world and some proper old school reporting from the road side.

@womump
Thanks - yes - we tried it yesterday evening, and it's what prompted this question.
As much as I respect all three of the contributors it is too long, full of (as you say) nonsense, and has the in jokes - my wife said "they are talking for the sake of talking".
Shame really, it should have been so much better.

@MikeFromLFE @womump I think you will find nothing that ticks your boxes. All podcast in the last few years, has turned into rambling for ~20min before the subject/interview start (which I always skip), in jokes, liking to past episodes and because of the 20min intro of nothing they are close to an hour long.

Best around I think is Never Strays Far. I think next year they will include more cycling as they don't have a whole day of cycling on the telly before the record the pod. Ned's reports from other races are very interesting more about cycling culture, fans, history, location etc less on the stats - wins, vo2, equipment.

Second best is to search for highlights on YouTube, TNT and other stations are pretty good for barebone race results.

@woollypigs @MikeFromLFE @womump Yes, when Ned goes to a race on his own, NSF is less grating. Whilst his stuff from the
Etoile de Bessรจges earlier in the year 'strayed' somewhat far from the racing at times, it was overall a lovely piece of event-based travelogue.
Otherwise, the sniggering, in jokes, inanity and cross talking is a turn off I agree. I guess that's gonna happen when the motivation to do a podcast is to earn advertising revenue rather than because there's something worth saying.
