I am currently struggling with setting up a new printer. I swear it is more difficult now to set up anything, hardware or software, than it was ten years ago. Once upon a time, you just plugged it in, did a test run for the print quality and off you went. Now, I have to download a large range of whatevers and what is a remote printer driver anyway. Do I want it? Can I ignore it? Is it central to functionality and why do all the user reviews I read in advance say it's easy to set up and all the ones on the brand's website say it's difficult?

I have it printing from my mobile and from the desktop, so I suppose that's a start. Instead of feeling cheered by my success, I just feel like a bex and a lie down.

@mativity I purchased some digital sheet music and wanted to print it out so I could put fingering etc on it. My printer made so many demands before I could even get to the print button I gave up. The local library printed it for me for free. Thank heavens for libraries. #library #LocalLibrary

@juliew2010 I haven't even got to printing yet! I am still on setting up network connections. And where I can find the password so I can customize settings. The manual says the password is under the scanning lid and labeled 'password' - but it isn't .

And why do I want/need a password anyway to customize it?

@mativity Drives me bonkers! Just let me print, dammit.
@juliew2010 I am actually quite surprised I wasn't offered AI assistance. Just a pdf downloadable guide or web instructions. How backward of Epson!
