Oh I can hear them now:
“Oh sure, and next you’ll be telling me to be nice to my dog and my kids, <slur>!”
James Gunn said Superman is a immigrant, which he of course is.
But I guess some people thought he was born in the USA.
You prompted me to look up an article, and it’s an interesting history. Apparently, “the American way” didn’t actually appear in a comic until 1991. It’s almost exclusively a phrase for radio and television.
He wasn’t even the first to call him that so publicly. This is an official WB documentary which got released with Superman Returns in 2006. I forgot when exactly but I’m pretty sure the narrator called him that within the first, maybe 20 minutes or so.
In the comics, for a while, they tried to pretend he was by retconning his origin to have his ship give birth to him. Happened in the '80s so you can probably guess why they did it.
It was very weird. Luckily he’s back to his normal origin now.
The bad guys have a military to gun down brown unmarked families to take over a neighboring country.
Zionists: and I took that personally.
