Oh I can hear them now:
“Oh sure, and next you’ll be telling me to be nice to my dog and my kids, <slur>!”
James Gunn said Superman is a immigrant, which he of course is.
But I guess some people thought he was born in the USA.
You prompted me to look up an article, and it’s an interesting history. Apparently, “the American way” didn’t actually appear in a comic until 1991. It’s almost exclusively a phrase for radio and television.
He wasn’t even the first to call him that so publicly. This is an official WB documentary which got released with Superman Returns in 2006. I forgot when exactly but I’m pretty sure the narrator called him that within the first, maybe 20 minutes or so.
In the comics, for a while, they tried to pretend he was by retconning his origin to have his ship give birth to him. Happened in the '80s so you can probably guess why they did it.
It was very weird. Luckily he’s back to his normal origin now.
The bad guys have a military to gun down brown unmarked families to take over a neighboring country.
Zionists: and I took that personally.
Pink Kryptonite is a type of Kryptonite that seemingly turns Kryptonians more feminine or queer. This type of Kryptonite only made one appearance in comics and was used as a satire of the plots of Silver Age comic stories featuring some strange new form of Kryptonite. In an animated short, True Colors, from the animated series Justice League Action, its effect was changed to switch the gender of the Kryptonian under its effects, due to the more family-friendly nature of the show (another...
I thought his only “son” was his clone.
And if it’s a clone, that means Superman is also bi.
There was this bs controversy about someone in a comic book not being straight:
And if it’s a clone, that means Superman is also bi
…because of comic book logic on cloning? Or is there some genetic factor underlying a person’s sexuality? I’m guessing the former, but if the latter is true, it’s the first I’ve heard of it, so I’m curious!
I always figured it was biologically driven without much in the way of genetic components; mostly because it seems like homosexuality would be pretty tricky to pass on if it was just linked to a few genes. I’m curious about the mechanism in general, and from your phrasing, thought you might know something I hadn’t picked up yet.
And just to be very clear, homosexuality is clearly NOT a choice!
Lets Keep going,
Hopefully they’ll get an aneurism
In the show, the conservative population eats it up.
If conservatives IRL don’t get that they’re making fun of conservatives not understanding satire that’s a bonus.
I’m not sure if that’s a thing that really happened
Yeah I think you’d be right to be suspicious. There’s at least as many people who pretend to think something dumb on the internet for the lulz, as there are people who actually believe it.
Hi! Nothing in your short post was offensive or stupid so I apologize for the wall of text I’m going to dump on you. And I’ll caveat what I’m about to say with “People find ways to be clever in all kinds of situations, so you’re even kind of right.” But…
I’m going to take a stand, on a very subjective topic, and say loudly; No, Trolling is not an art form. I hate this fucking take. Trolling takes all kinds of forms but its unifying element is to make other people ‘upset’. Sometimes mad. Sometimes sad. Sometimes confused. Sometimes depressed. You know what else does that? Existing at all in this fucking ghastly, unjust, terrible world. People start pissed off, and Trolls dog pile on and take credit. Trolling is art in the same way painting a freshly painted white wall in more white is fucking art- you accomplished fuck all.
Being kind is fucking art. More than art it’s fucking design, and craft and construction. Making someone happy. Hopeful. Joyous. Inspired. That takes fucking art. It takes hard work, sometimes sacrifice, and always intellect. And you have to do it in direct defiance of the whole fucking world.
I wish it actually had been super woke since it’s getting so much flak for literally just being Superman.
Fantastic movie though.
I have the opposite opinion. I think it was woke in some pretty bold ways, but I just found it kinda boring. I like what they did with Superman, I like the baravia stuff, I like the whiny bitch boy Luther (most of the characters really), I think they did some neat things visually
It’s very comic-like, but to the point I struggle to feel anything. I thought it was ok, it had good moments, but it was very hard to suspend my disbelief. I don’t understand the rules of the world, at every moment Superman was infinitely strong but also constantly on the verge of death… They did the overpowered protagonist trope really badly IMO
But I did like the messaging. It’s very woke, and entirely unapologetic about it. I really liked how they showed it through story in a very heavy handed manner, but never did a preachy monologue… The message was not subtle at all, but it didn’t come off as condescending at any point
I think it was very bold and based, but as a movie… Meh
