@atpfm my son repeating “mattress firm” over and over again may be the reason I pay for YouTube
@crow610 @atpfm I might feel differently if i ever have kids, but I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would pay for YouTube when you can just click the "skip" button after a few seconds
@Waustin @crow610 @atpfm
Sorry, no. Zero tolerance for ads.
@Waustin @crow610 @atpfm I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would wait for a “skip” button when you can just use a simple browser plugin to prevent YouTube ads altogether including auto-skipping of promotional parts — all for free.
@Waustin @crow610 @atpfm Ads, skipping ads, paying for no ads … all reasons why I bought my kids hockey skates, lacrosse sticks, a Leatherman, fins goggles and snorkel, and a billion legos. What y’all pay on streaming services, I spend on bike inner tubes and White Lightning. 1000% worth it.
@crow610 @atpfm I think @caseyliss ‘s kids are both well under 13; I don't know about the bargain-basement plan he picked, but my youtube premium at $13 a month also makes the child accounts using Youtube Kids ad-free, no family plan necessary. Just need to have the accounts set up, which is done here: https://families.youtube.com/
@crow610 @atpfm @siracusa I specifically cite paying for YouTube premium as phenomenal parenting advice, directly obtained from ATP. That was years ago… Now I'm at the age where I really should have a family plan, but my algorithm is completely completely destroyed. I've watched enough videos that I don't wanna give up my history and start from scratch. :-(
@MGKatz036 @crow610 @atpfm @siracusa you shouldn't have to give up history? Existing account joins a family group, you still retain the history. In fact I've almost the opposite, I have no idea how I've set it up but I seem to have two different profiles in the one email/account, one which is associated with the content I've uploaded and one which is just straight my email with no watch history.
@crow610 @atpfm LIBERTY LIBERTY Liiiiiiiberty Liiiiberty
@billyok @atpfm ugh now it’s stuck in my head
