Before you marry a person, you should first make them use a computer with a slow Internet connection to see who they really are.
@clown that's why i invited my partner to come visit me in Germany
@darkphoenix @clown make them fill out paperwork for literally anything

@Mair You won't marry anyone that way ever.

@clown @darkphoenix

@shuro@friends.deko.cloud @clown @Mair isn't filling out paperwork literally how you get married tho?
@darkphoenix it is important to be the last step when there is nowhere to run.
@clown @Mair

@darkphoenix @shuro @clown @Mair Can confirm.

(I met her during the era of dial-up, so I think I sort of have that covered?)

@clown another good one is a laptop with crap thermal design/firmware bugs that triggers PROCHOT if you look at it funny and constrains the core frequency to 200MHz until reboot
@arj @clown Ah, a fellow Lenovo P1 user! 😂
@clown ive used a 100 kb/s connection for several years, does that qualify ?
@clown that’s why I don’t let @Fredddyyy outside without a Meshtastic node, so we can still flirt via awfully slow and unstable conditions :D
@clown I used a laptop with sub 1mb/s internet for a couple months ad a main

@clown
I would not be married right now if Sp had followed this advice.

#NoPatience

@clown Also applies to yourself, if you have self-love trusting issues. Slow Internet, never again...
@clown I and my then future wife were stuck on a 3G modem for all our devices for far too long.
@clown @clive The story of my life!
@clown
I always think it's my fault when they say "why is it like this" 🤬 , so it's also a good test on my level of comfort/trust/confidence with that person.
@clown
Took me 20 years to figure out it's not about me :)
@clown "You should abuse any potential future spouse with network collisions"

@clown

I pretty much just keep my hubs around for tech support

@clown I have an old Texas Instruments 40column terminal with 300bps modem for this.
@clown last week my wife and I stayed in a Cottage in a remote coastal village in the West of Ireland. No internet and occasionally one bar of mobile signal. We chatted more in that week than in most months. The dogs enjoyed more walks and company. And because the local pub had Sky TV, I drank more Guinness in a week than I normally do in several weeks 🤣
@clown as someone who met their spouse on IRC back in the days when a 28.8kb modem was de rigeur, I can attest to this method actually working. 🤣
@clown tutorial: tether the computer to your phone wifi.... over bluetooth😈 (if the pc doesn't have bluetooth you may choose to use a second old phone and connect that over usb as a bluezooth dongle)
@clown @longbottle Ah! I loaded Sorcery on my Amstrad CPC464 in 1986, Challenge accepted.
@clown
When my wife's water broke with our child, I was still awake at 01:30 because I was playing with my new 28.8K SupraFaxModem.
