Remember that old Emo Phillips line "some days it's just so hard even to summon the energy to gnaw through the leather straps"?
That's today in a nutshell.
I told a colleague to get up from his comfy pub chair and go outside and say sorry to the *woman whose arse he just slapped*, which, to his tiny amount of credit, he did.
But he went round calling me "that cunt" for the rest of the time I spent working with him.
Very much this. The only way to win is not to play. It's a really fucking stupid game, too, and it ends up leaving us with maladapted brain wiring that takes decades and a therapist to undo.

Calibrated a Befaco Pony oscillator with a cheap multimeter with a one-and-maybe-a-bit decimal place voltage accuracy earlier in the day, with reference 2.5V base going from 60c drift across 3 octaves to about 23c.
Got a nice modern multimeter for 20 quid, and going to 2.500V exactly has got that drift down to under 5c. I'm really happy with that, even though it's way too much multimeter for me...

See *this* is why I like RSpec, even as people insist that Test::Unit is "just code"
