This is what I think of every time I see Microsoft Co-Pilot mentioned:
@trif #WithAltText
When someone mentions swastikar's autopilot:
@trif The inflatable co-pilot is named Otto, not George (Despite the common term "Let George fly it")

Otto - Biography - IMDb

Otto. Actor: Airplane!. Otto is one of the most iconic movie objects of all time, not only recognized by audiences around the world for his only film performance in the massive hit Airplane! (1980), but he also has a profile page on IMDb along with other film cultural icons like Volleyball, Wilson the and Robby the Robot. Otto was an inflatable balloon born in 1979, created and conceived by three...

@Firesphere thanks for the correction
@Firesphere @trif but why make George work when you can just turn otto-pilot on?
@zbrown @Firesphere @trif he charges too much. You know why? Inflation.
@Firesphere @trif so it's an OTTO PILOT yaaaay hahaha !
@trif It's accurate.
@trif Doesn’t quite work for me. Compared to Microsoft Copilot, Otto is both funnier and more competent.
@trif Is that The Angriest Boy?
@hosford42 never realised the resemblance

@trif

I just almost uninstalled it, but don't trust Microsoft not to sabotage my OS if I do.

Anyone ever remove it from Win10?

@trif (edit: sorry my wires got crossed and i thought uninstall windows) then just overwrite it or never boot the partition if you leave it on there?

I mean.. the BIOS or Intel chip could have a backdoor, but i don't think it's up to M$ to use it.

It can certainly helpful if it's a secondary machine and if you have someone to help you through it..

@jasper

No worries. Thanks for taking a stab at it.

I know one workaround for that 360 garbage I also don't think I can remove--I don't let my computer autoconnect to he internet. So things like 360 that report on me before I'm allowed to use the machine throw off an error and I can close at least the visible parts of them before going online.

@Uair @trif remove it now, from everywhere around you.
@Uair @trif I got rid of it and lost the font I write all my books in (Sabon). I *must* have that font. So I submitted to Co-Pilot's presence. But I never use it. 🤮
@trif fun fact in Poland title of this movie was translated as „Is pilot flying with us?”
@trif
I think that's a bit advanced tbf. And probably safer too.

@trif the “Pilot” metaphor breaks because apparently there are now three roles…

• Pilot Flying
• Pilot Monitoring
• Pilot Hallucinating

…instead of two?

@trif I suppose the difference is that George actually did do something *useful* and *helpful*... though he wasn't very communicative.

Aviate, Navigate, Communicate.

@trif nothing like it, this one was actually useful
@trif I will now...
@trif I mean look at the VSCode logo:
@trif same actually!!
@trif @Sebastian And it is exactly that … 😁
@trif It looks like JD Vance
@trif The movie also describes what you have to do, that the LLM does what you want
@trif it's funny until you realize this guy lives in your neighborhood, and he drives a tesla.
@trif that's an insult to my boy Otto
@trif Complete with the depiction of the new primary work assignment of Mickeysoft's devs!
@trif Which immediately triggers memory of the scene that is following
@trif @Gargron No, it’s definitely this
@trif the "top up valve" is the perfect stock price point here
@trif the on switch is even in the same place!
@trif That's an unfair comparison. The co-pilot shown here was useful.

Yep... I see the same thing. Whole software package is a joke.

@trif

@trif

perfect 🤣 🤣 🤣

@trif I think of The Riddler (from Batman Forever). He has a machine that provides a novel form of entertainment, but which simultaneously redirects useful knowledge and thoughts to back to central HQ for nefarious purposes. To me, that's what these centralised AI systems are.
@trif At least Otto knew how to be quiet...
@trif Why does "Julia Hagerty" jump to mind when I see that pilot dummy? 🤣

@trif

I recently talked to someone who actually likes M$ copilot as "you can easily summarise meeting, check what I di.cessed last time with someone".

Seriously if I want the light bulb turned on, I just do that - same for this LLM or other tool. , I use them when I want to.

@trif this exact scene too!
