The dry part of the esker is strikingly different to the lush one. Not sure why it's dry - it's not the entire side so rain shadow is not the answer (the esker is too small for that anyway). Could be manmade since pines are planted there, but similar plantations are thriving not even 100m away. Or if it's an old shingle beach with zero water retention. One thing is sure though; it has aggressively neon moss.
