Good. Danish Ministry switching from Microsoft Office/365 to LibreOffice. As I said before, don't give taxpayers' money to Microsoft. Save that money. Help support open source. Spend added savings on local community development programs. It's a win-win for both honest taxpayers and local communities. Besides that everyone knows big tech is not trustworthy especially one that steals your data for AI training or runs spyware like Recall

Danish Ministry switching from Microsoft Office/365 to LibreOffice - The Document Foundation Blog

@nixCraft Very much looking forward to this taking hold as a trend. It will be wonderful to see money flowing into real open source software. I've always believed that a real good government should support open source things.

@nixCraft #Goog #Workspace just sent me their exclse why it's getting more expensive: "added AI value".

These "AI" functions aren't even enabled for my account. They are not compliant with German law. I rejected the "offer" :)

@nixCraft "We must never make ourselves so dependent on so few that we can no longer act freely. Because far too much public digital infrastructure is today tied up with very few foreign suppliers. This makes us vulnerable" — Caroline Olsen

Bottle that …!

@nixCraft also bite the bullet here. Microsoft office is only a “standard” because people bought into it. Break away. Train your new staff and they will adapt.

Commit to the long-term transition plan and start teaching kids LibreOffice just like they did with Microsoft Office and in 10 years this will have been an easy correct decision.

@nixCraft

Only one Ministry in Denmark switching to libreoffice will give a signal but is not the change needed.

Ditch Microsoft completely.

@nixCraft There is one catch: LibreOffice works better than those other crappy things!!!
