A ★★★ review of The Rule of Jenny Pen (2024)

How about some senior citizen horror? This is a very weird movie anchored by two fantastic performances that hold the whole thing together. Geoffrey Rush as a prickish Judge who suffers a stroke and has to be moved to a seniors facility where all the residents are terrorized by Dave and his little puppet, Jenny Pen. Dave is masterfully brought to life by John Lithgow, who is adept at being horrifying as he is at humour. Without the two of them this may have become a mess but it works on the strengths of the two leads.
