It's the anniversary of LeBron's The Decision and also top hockey prospect Gavin McKenna has made a Decision today to play his final "amateur" season in NCAA to make money instead of in the CHL.

Nobody on Fedi cares about this obviously, but in honour of Decisions, my #QuestionOfTheDay for you all is: what's a consequential/impactful Decision made by a character in a work of fiction you care about (like or hate) and why is it a big deal? (Use spoiler tags to go into detail)

@ami_angelwings GOD THAT LAST EPISODE OF SEVERENCR SEASON 2
Makes sense narratively why it happened but it was a deep betrayal!!

@ami_angelwings Darth Vader throwing the emperor down the shaft.

It’s truly one of the most interesting and iconic characters of all time. Sure Vader got his ass handed to him a few times. But nobody ever killed Vader, which is so common with Villains. He sacrificed himself in the end. A tragic character, yet also possibly the biggest badass villain.

(Leia is still the coolest character ever in a movie.)

@ami_angelwings Probably Kyon's choice to reset the timeline and undo all of Yuki's changes. It's a pivotal character moment and firmly shows that for all his snark he really, really loves his friends as they are and loves Haruhi in particular.

BUT, this also dooms Yuki to return to her former state, unable to process or express her emotions. And the way her struggle is animated too - from the little sleeve grab in the alternate timeline, to the way her eyes shine just a little when Kyon quietly protects her from decommission afterward, just aaaaaaaagghhh

Goes to show why, despite being by-the-numbers, I needed Disappearance of Yuki Nagato
