@adhd_coffee The image features a meme with a dark blue background. At the top, in white text, it reads, "Them: What does it feel like to have ADHD?" Below this, the word "Me:" is written in white text. The main content of the meme is a tweet from a user named Natalie, with the handle [@]jbfan911. The tweet, also in white text, reads, "Every day I wait for an email that says 'you're in BIG trouble and everyone is mad at you.'" The tweet includes a circular profile picture of a woman with blonde hair, wearing a blue top. The overall layout is simple, with the text and profile picture clearly visible against the dark background.

@adhd_coffee omg is this a thing? it me!

@adhd_coffee

I've forgotten something, that's always true.

I'm in trouble somewhere for something.

Without meds it's often BIG trouble. (IRS? insurance?)

With meds it's more likely just the ADHD tax instead of the ADHD execution (late fees).

@adhd_coffee That's not ADHD. That's Pavlonian training.

Seriously though. That's generalized anxiety, not ADHD. Can of course be comorbid.

@crazyeddie yeah for some it's a whole package of comorbidities. GA without a Yay. 🥹 @adhd_coffee
@adhd_coffee WHY ARE YOU PICKING ON ME
@adhd_coffee I’ve been sending voice messages to a few friends each day (good morning, how’s your day, I hula hooped). Sometimes when I receive their message, my anxiety jolts into “did I say something dumb? Are they going to cut me off?”
@TeacherTom @adhd_coffee
Literally me after every social interaction with the exception of my partner.
@alchemistsstudio @adhd_coffee For me, the feelings of anxiety ebb and flow, but I notice them getting worse right before we open a play (opening Stage Kiss by Sarah Ruhl next weekend).
@adhd_coffee Sounds more like anxiety to me. Or maybe not I'm not sure wait do you hate me? Like that.

@adhd_coffee Me fr. I just found out yesterday that some person I don't know and have never talked with, has blocked me on a certain Discord server, which is a very safe space of likeminded LGBTQIA+ people, and apart from one channel for darker topics, generally a positive place.

Normal person would've probably just shrugged it off and continued their life.

But me? 👉 "What did I do? Did I say something wrong? I'm so sorry! Ahhh I can't even ask have I offended them somehow, because they've blocked me! Is there other people too around who they're friends with and who silently judge me over some mistake I haven't even noticed??" *overthinks it all night and the next day*

Like, please. Where do they sell off-buttons for brains?

@adhd_coffee I don't have ADHD but I still feel that way because usually once a week I actually get one of those emails.
@mike @adhd_coffee
Which could explain where it really comes from, trauma. It's just that neurodivergent people tend to get more trauma growing up so things like this appear like an innate trait rather than an unfortunately all too common experience.
@adhd_coffee that’s literally just anxiety

#adhd thoughts - My emotional spectrum is black, grey, white, and neon laser dreamscape. - So many things in my head, but time is linear and I only have one body. Halp. - I found this cool thing to do or think about. Where am I? What year is it? - "...and that's how I wound up on a Manitoba highway in January kicked off the bus by US customs." *Looks around* "Oh you're gone. Aight."

@adhd_coffee Either that isn't just ADHD folks, or I'm out a certain diagnosis... 😝

@adhd_coffee @lisamelton Another vector: you were raised Catholic.

<raises hand...>

@adhd_coffee a lot of people are replying that this isn't an adhd thing but an anxiety thing

the reason this is an adhd thing is that people with adhd are criticized more than their peers for most of their lives and grow up learning that they are always probably in trouble for stuff they don't even remember doing.

Experiences of criticism in adults with ADHD: A qualitative study

People with ADHD are at high risk of receiving criticism from others, yet criticism has not been well researched in this population. This study aimed to provide a rich understanding of what experiences adults with ADHD traits have with criticism. As ...

@adhd_coffee Recently started The Last Of Us. It's pretty formulaic - which I expect from a variation on zombie apocolypse. Pascal is pretty good in his role.
