Played around with @ryanlintott's LookingGlassUI for #Macrowave's iOS app. It gives this shiny effect to glass elements while tilting the phone.
The library is really cool. Not sure if I like it in Macrowave yet. What do you think?
Gave the Broadcaster a new look to make it easier to distinguish it from the Receiver.

Neco had a good idea for #Macrowave I used as an excuse to make use of Metal shaders. 🏴☠️
Made another video of #Macrowave with sound to show how it works with actual music and sound fx.
Before we release this we want to take some time to polish everything and build some smaller social features, like getting notified when one of your friends goes live again.

We finally released a new TestFlight version of #Macrowave.
It now includes all the features we want to include in the launch version.

• Improved station management
• Push notifications for when a station broadcasts again

We updated the website before we invite more people to TestFlight because we wanted to improve the experience for listeners that don't have access to the #Macrowave app on their Mac or iPhone.
We also improved how publicly shared URLs look like.

The launch went a little bit rough. We wanted to push another bug fix update yesterday night, but App Store Review seems to have decided to look into #Macrowave for real this time and found a whole lot of new reasons to reject our update twice already. Will continue working on this tomorrow.
There was a critical bug that prevented some people from using the broadcaster today. We were able to fix that server-side, so if that didn't work for you previously, you can try again now.
Fixed some more bugs that got reported on launch day and submitted another version to App Store Review. Hopefully going through today. 🤞
A new update of the #Macrowave macOS app including a bunch of bug fixes is now available to download on the App Store.

@technicat yeah. Just makes me wonder what they reviewed the first time. It was the same app minus bug fixes.
@lucas I've had an update rejected for not having enough functionality, after it had been on the store for years and over 100k downloads.
@technicat that sucks, but also does not surprise me anymore...
Sometimes it's just so much work getting an update through review. :(

@netopwibby that's a really fun idea! I love that. We were thinking about sending reactions that the broadcaster will receive, but a chat room also sounds interesting.
What would you use it for?
@lucas Just to chat with people who tune in. I do have a mic so I can talk over the music (I was running Macrowave for ~ 2 hours today) but a chat room would be more interactive.

But what I will say – jump early into testing at real sizes on real devices. It feels like you are designing too "zoomed in". Most likely cramping this amount of components will make feel each of them individually to minuscule. My guess would be: try the display only, to get the letters bigger, and pixelation pattern more prominent.

Here is what it looks like on iOS right now.
@lucas Yea, see. It looses the needed strength of distinct shape so needed in app icons. Buttons are very low contrast thing, so they kinda fade away, blend with the background. And "ON AIR" just asks to get more focus "power". Plus the pixelization effect, which is the coolest part in my opinion, is practically invisible at this font size. We need more POP and skeumo BLAST! :)
