This week #Plasma Bigscreen has seen some major work and improvements (thanks to, among others, @espidev )! UI redesigns, bug fixes, and new features, there's lots to see! And more to come!

#kde #linux

@espidev While it's not released yet on Plasma 6, it is hopefully now on it's way to being so!
@seshpenguin @espidev I love seeing progress with Bigscreen again! Wonderful news.

@seshpenguin

I haven't realized the project has been revived. Looking forward to use it on my big TV!

Also, is that a HomeAssistant Yellow?

@Anachron Yep, it is a Home Assistant Yellow!

@seshpenguin how happy are you with it?

I thought about getting one but settled with a beefy miniPC on Black Friday sale.

Also are you using any voice assistant on Linux?

I am really looking forward for the voice assistant from HA!

@Anachron It's pretty nice! A mini PC would probably be the better value (especially since I went with a Pi CM5), but the Yellow looks nicer imo and I get to support the HA devs.

I've messed with HA voice a bit... It would be cool to get that integrated into Bigscreen somehow 😶‍🌫️

@seshpenguin @espidev hmmm it seems to be I can use Bigscreen as another Steam Big Picture hmmm
@seshpenguin Was looking at this exact project last month for my tv box, awesome! Are you showing a dev build?
@thibaut_plg Yep, it's a dev build! Not officially released yet, but if you wanted to play with it you have some options, postmarketOS KDE nightly repo, plasma-bigscreen-git on AUR, or building yourself with kde-builder
@seshpenguin @espidev Very happy to see active development in Big Screen! With the recent increasing enshitification of TV boxes, there is very much a need for FreeTube and Jellyfin clients to ‘just work’ on it for it to be a viable alternative
@seshpenguin @espidev KDE is moving so fast this year, distros are having a hard time to be current

@seshpenguin @espidev

Awesome! Native control via KDE Connect would be needed, basically another input mode for keyboard and arrow keys, or add arrow keys to the touch+keyboard screen
