I was excited when installing my new GPU. On Windows it always meant a hassle with drivers and even if you stayed on the same GPU vendor usually settings like resolution or monitor setup needed to be applied again.

Now I switched from Nvidia to my very first AMD card. I do not need the fancy raytracing stuff, instead I wanted a card that could achieve more than 50-70fps on a 2k native resolution and no blurry upscaling. I also wanted to test how Linux Mint would react on a new GPU.

So I exchanged cards and barely even noticed a difference. The GPU was recognized, no settings were required at all. But the frame rate doubled in games. Well done, this is a hardware integration as I expect it.

Only issue I had was that I switched to Proton 10 beta. Unsure whether this was due to old data in the Wine prefix relating to nvidia or if Poroton 10 comes with better compatibility? Need to research.
