Starmer: I lost control over the benefits rebellion because I was focused on foreign policy.

So, not because he's an incompetent, authoritarian arse who ignored clear warning signs because he arrogantly assumed the rest of his party would do whatever he said, regardless of conscience?? Because I'm thinking it's more that, really...

Starmer says he lost grip on Labour welfare revolt due to focus on foreign affairs

Prime minister says he would ‘have liked to get to a better position with colleagues sooner than we did’

The Guardian

@LordWoolamaloo In previous, functioning, governments the cabinet minster responsible would be falling on their sword for having got their brief so badly wrong.

Instead, the PM is saying it's all his fault for failing to micro-manage and being distracted by something shinier.

So I agree, these are signs of arrogant, incompetent, authoritarian, command and control leadership in a parliament set up for collegiate decision making.

He thinks he's in court, wearing the biggest wig.

@LordWoolamaloo

Not competent or ethical. Step aside.

"It is Starmer’s third admission of having taken the wrong course in recent days..."

@LordWoolamaloo

"Oops, I forgot this wasn't the Tory party where the leader can spout any old bollocks, and the plebs fall in line" is what he means.

He wants to rule like a Tory. That is #KeirStamer's constant problem.

@LordWoolamaloo
Someone needs to let him know that capitulating in advance to every right-wing foreign leader isn't a very complicated foreign policy.
