I have a question for the #blind #ScreenReader using folks: Running the most recent versions of #jaws and #NVDA... I'm noticing that Jaws will not show a full list of results on the web while NVDA does. An example is modifying selective sync on dropbox. Jaws will show the first nine or ten checkboxes in the list but no more and refreshing doesn't fix this. Meanwhile, NVDA displays all of them without any problem so I know it isn't a dropbox issue. Is there a setting or something that I need to use to correct this very odd behavior? I'm experiencing it in other places too but I only have so many characters to write here. Boosts welcome for reach; but commentary about which screen reader is better is not. I use both and prefer it that way because I've found neither to be perfect. Oh, and maximizing windows doesn't fix this behavior either. Thanks in advance for any assistance!
@amy0223 Which version of JAWS are you using? Is this a new problem, and if so, when did you start noticing it. Oh, and TinyTalk for Dos is the best screen reader, nanner nanner nanner.
@Bruce Yes yes yes! Oh that thing got me through high school and college using the Braille n speak in speech box mode because I couldn’t afford an external synthesizer. I’m running jaws version 2025.2505.43. The one just released in may. I’ve been noticing this for a couple of months now. I was actually hoping the update might fix it. Things were easier in the tiny talk days. Grins.
@amy0223 Long live TinyTalk! I'll do some checking.
@amy0223 I've recently been reminded by my lead teacher that Jaws uses your graphics card. If things aren't always showing up for you the way they should, making sure your window is maximized is a must. I can't tell you how many times during screen share or tandem do my teachers give a verbal bop on the head when they tell me to "Maximize your windows!"
I'm sure you already know this but in case you don't, press Alt-Space to open the system menu, then press X to maximize.
